Gear Tuning

Ski and snowboard tuning involves maintaining and enhancing the performance of your equipment through several key steps.

Regular tuning not only boosts performance but also extends the lifespan of your equipment, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience on the slopes.

Appointments are not necessary. Walk-ins are welcome any time!

The Steps to a Good Tune Up

  1. Base Preparation: Ensuring the base is flat and free from scratches or gouges is essential for optimal glide. This may involve base grinding or repairs to restore a smooth surface

  2. Edge Sharpening: Sharpening the edges improves grip on the snow, especially on icy surfaces. This includes side edge beveling and base edge tuning to achieve the desired sharpness and angle

  3. Waxing: Applying wax to the base reduces friction, enhances glide, and protects the base material. Hot waxing, where melted wax is applied and then scraped off, is commonly used for its durability and performance benefits
